A Discovery While Doing Botany with my Girls

This is a Japanese Maple in my front bed. It is one of my favorite trees.

As we got closer while we were collecting a variety of leaves to study for Botany, we noticed something unusual.

There was a nest. I told the girls that we needed to be careful not to disturb it or touch it, so I grabbed my iPhone to take pictures.

We couldn't tell if there were any eggs, though we did see a bird fly away as we were picking off a leaf from the tree for our collection.

Even though I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of, sure enough, there were 3 beautiful blue eggs. I started singing "God of Wonders" by Chris Tomlin.

Lisa, you're gonna laugh at this story. We have house finches that build nests on our porch every year. A few weeks ago there were some babies up there, and while I was standing there looking at them, I was talking. All of a sudden the birds started screeching, and one took off one direction, the other went the other direction. We never saw them again, lol. I learned a lesson, never never talk to the birds.
